Enugu State joins the rest of the world to celebrate 2015 International Youth Day

 It was a colorful day in Enugu as the State joins the rest of the world to mark the International Youth Day Celebration on the 12th of August 2015. The event which took place at the Nnamdi Azikiwe stadium, witnessed a huge turn out of youths in Enugu State and all the youth corps members serving in the state.

The theme for this years' celebration was "Youths Civic Engagement"

The youths were charged to embrace entrepreneurship ventures in order to contribute towards the economic development of the society. The resource persons at the event lectured the youths on the dangers of drug abuse and the need to consciously abstain from it. They were intimated on the economic opportunities in the state such as agriculture, and the state government's effort to make available soft loans for small and medium scale businesses and entrepreneurs in the state. The youths were also advised to take advantage of such platforms to build their dreams.

The honorable Commissioner for youths and sports, Enugu State enjoined the youths to place God first in all their endeavors and equally encourage them to be more active in the activities of the government.

The highlight of the event was a keynote address by the Executive Governor of the State, His Excellency, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, who was represented by his deputy, Her Excellency, Mrs C. Ezeani, who started by charging the Hon. Commissioner for youths and sports to design a media for youths on drug abuse. She challenged the youths to be great ambassadors of development and appreciates them for being of good conduct. She reechoed the state government's commitment to carry the youths along and to deliver on its campaign promises.
