How We’ll Share N5,000 to Poor Nigerians, Government is committed to it – VP Osinbajo

The Vice President of Nigeria, Professor Yemi Osinbajo on Friday, gave an insight into the method government intends to employ in making conditional cash transfers available to the poorest of the poor in Nigeria.
The conditional cash transfer is a social welfare initiative proposed by the All Progressives Congress (APC) to alleviate financial challenges faced by the poor in the society.
According to Osinbajo: “We are partnering with the World Bank to identify the poorest families in many communities. We have already done seven states.”
“This is the way we have decided to help with palliatives. Our ambition is to help 25 million poor people with N5,000, and this is one way we hope to bring the first 1 million people out of poverty,” he said.
The Vice President made the statement in Abuja during a media forum organised to discuss President Muhammadu Buhari’s achievements in his first year in office.
He reiterated the commitment of President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration to transparency and accountability stating that “the President has only one agenda – he’s not interested in making money, he’s not interested in stealing money, and that’s the same with me.”.
