Two Nigerian Senators to Be Suspended over power tussle.

The two persons that were sworn in for the Niger South Senatorial District are going to be suspended by the Senate over a controversial power tussle for the same seat.

Following our earlier report concerning the recent tussle in the senate involving two senators representing the same senatorial district, Daily Trust reports that the individuals have been suspendded by the upper legislative chamber.

The two persons, Mustapha Sani Mohammed and Gen. (rtd) Mohammed A. Garba who are both claiming to have won the election under the All Progressives Congress were at different dates sworn in to represent Niger south senatorial district
The crisis trailing the seat was compounded last Wednesday when Senate President Bukola Saraki swore in the second person for same seat.
General Mohammed A. Garba was sworn in on June 9 and Malam Mustapha Sani Mohammed was sworn in last week. The duo are both claiming to have won election under the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
But a source in Saraki’s office said arrangements are on for the suspension of the two persons.
It said the entitlements meant for the seat have also been stopped pending the outcome of the legal tussle over the seat.
“Already they have been stopped from coming to the National Assembly,” he said.
It would be recalled that senate president’s Special Adviser on legal and constitutional matters, Barrister Ibrahim Tukur El-Sudi had said the confusion was caused by a lack of information from the judiciary. He said the case is being investigated.
