Joseph Targema Orkar, the deputy chairman of Benue state’s All
Progressives Congress (APC), has said that virtually every sector in the
country would have collapsed if the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) had
been allowed to continue beyond 2015.
According to him, a victory for the PDP at the March 28 presidential
election would have been disastrous going by the way those holding the
reins of power were acting with impunity.
Joseph Orkar, the elder brother of the late Major Gideon Orkah, pointed to the recent disclosure that over 70 staff members of Benue state university secondary school were denied their wages for five years under the immediate past administration, calling it cruel and the height of dishonesty in society.
Speaking in an interview with National Mirror, Orkar also reacted to critics of Governor Samuel Ortom who has been criticised for being slow in handling the administration of the state.
According to him, Governor Ortom’s government is making intensive efforts to ensure that the state bounces back to its feet.
Orkar pleaded for patience with the new administration, saying that there are efforts to ensure harmonious solutions to the huge challenges confronting the state.
He said: “The present government is working round the clock to ameliorate the condition of its citizen. In no distant future, we will begin to reap the efforts of the new regime.”
