2014 will be over in few hours today and 2015 will be ushered in just the same way we welcomed in 2014 with great expectations, strong resolutions, high motivations and optimistic faith. How many of us will reflect back on our journey through the out going year and raise our head high up in fulfillment knowing that it is a year "we came, we saw and we conquered"?. It has become a tradition for us to make a resolution at the beginning of each year, we set out our dreams, list of things to accomplish, places to go to, people to meet, heights to attend, etc (not that there is something wrong with this). However, as the year draws to an end, we are earnestly praying for it to be over and forgotten so that we can set out new goals and make resolutions (mostly the same things we did last year), to start on a fresh note.
After the much meditated resolutions were made and the new year kicks off on a high note, we discover that things are not getting much better in some cases as hour turns into days, days turn into weeks, weeks into months. Most of us look back at the out going year in regret because it is passing away with it some of our unfulfilled plans, under-achievements, unattainable goals, e
tc. But look forward to the new year with new hopes and fresh optimism with the faith that things will get better. That is actually a great thing to do and a wonderful way to venture into the new year. Not that am being cynical or unmotivated, but in truth, I always wonder what makes us look forward to the new year in great expectations that things will turn around for the best.
I have always been a victim of the repeated new year resolutions with the faith that things will get much more better than the previous year until I came to the life transforming realization that the additional year is not an automatic additional effort, that I can always make a resolution for all I care but without an additional effort, things will never get better but instead the new year will end up just like the previous years. My mentor and life coach, Garrett J White woke up the warrior in me to "have it all" (achieve all my resolutions) by digging out the buried truth to achieving a balanced success in life by drumming it down to my subconscious that I do not deserve anything or entitled to anything except the things that am brutally committed to have or achieve.
To get it right in the coming year and look back to it at the end of it with pride in our eyes, we need to do four distinctive things. These are not the usual writing down of our goals and resolutions, sharing them with friends and family members, and all that, No, this is more like being realistic and taking the bull by the horn. This game is what I termed the "true resurrection". It's just a simple difficult nature of man, which is summarized in four places. The three Rs and A.
1. Be REAL. I woke up to the realization that for my dreams to come true, my goals to be achieved and my resolutions to stand, I needed to be REAL. It can be being true to yourself or true to want you want. At a point I discovered that am not who I think I am neither am I who I am meant to be but just a character in the society, playing a fake role like everyone else. As soon as I came to this discovery, it dawned on me that what am pursuing isn't what I want and should be pursuing. From that moment onwards, my perspective changed and I started getting things right.
2. Be Raw. Getting to know your true self and your true wants come along with getting down to it without faking it to suit a norm or fit into a class. Being RAW is getting dirty with yourself and achieving what you want. Anyone who despises you is a fake or doesn't belong to your class so forget him/her. You only have just one life to live, how you choose to live it is up to you to decide, but remember at the end, it is all man to himself.
3. Be AGGRESSIVE. If you are not aggressive about your life and your passion, am wondering how far you can go with it. Life as we know it is a hard nut to crack, more complicated than we foresee it. It comes up with a whole lots of challenges that so many people surrender at the face of the difficulties of life and others run into a the next available comfort zone, but those with an AGGRESSIVE passion about their life and what they want out of life and not what life offers them keeps pushing forward and eventually become the top players.
4. Be RELEVANT. Most often, we live a selfish life and therefore make selfish resolutions, set selfish goals and plan on making selfish achievements. Little wonder they remain unattainable. If your life isn't solving a problem, benefiting your environment and your resolutions isn't making impact in the lives of the community, it will never be achieved. The easiest and best ways to achieve your goals, make your dreams come true and have the successful life you desire is to give it out to the society. Touch people's life and your own life will be touched. Be RELEVANT in your environment and your environment will reciprocate in double fold.
These are just the never take away from your list if you really wish to look back with pride at the end of the year and smile in satisfaction knowing that the year was a great one for your and the coming one will be greater.
