There was a new shout of joy and excitement at the Camp Nou last night from the home fans following the return to action of the four times World Best, Lionel Messi after being sidelined for 59 days as a result of injury.
Messi capped his long-awaited return from injury with two late goals when introduced as a substitute as Barcelona recorded a 4-0 win over Getafe in the Copa de Rey last 16 first leg match on wednesday night.
The Argentine returned to join his Barca teammates last week after completing the last stage of his recovery from thigh operation in his home country, replaced Iniesta in the 64th minute, just after Cesc Fabregas scored his second for the night from the penalty spot.
Messi who almost set up Pedro minutes after his arrival on the pitch, soon netted his first for the night when Sergio Busquets floated a ball to Martin Montoya, with the striker pouncing on the rebound from goalkeeper Jordi Codina.
Messi scored his second goal for the night of his return three minutes before stoppage time after he raced onto the end of Alex Song's through ball to riffle it past the Getafe's goalkeeper.
